European Heritage Days – 19 & 20 September 2026

Discover the museum’s collections and enjoy a special programme celebrating the history, art and heritage of the Châtillonnais region.

Saturday 19 September – Kiki de Montparnasse

Two talks will explore the artistic world of 1920s Paris, in connection with the temporary exhibition “Kiki, Queen of Montparnasse”, dedicated to Kiki de Montparnasse, born in Châtillon-sur-Seine.

10:30 am – Amélie Harrault
The director of the animated film Mademoiselle Kiki et les Montparnos will present her film and discuss her approach to Kiki’s story through animation.

2:30 pm – Pierre-Yves Butzbach
A specialist in Man Ray’s photography, he will present the artist’s work, techniques and relationship with Kiki, including the famous photograph Le Violon d’Ingres.

Saturday 19 September – Behind the Scenes of the Vix Treasure

Meet Olivier Morel, art conservator, who has worked for institutions including the Louvre, the Palace of Versailles and the Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection.

He will talk about the conservation of the Vix Krater, explaining how its condition is regularly monitored and how specialists preserve this exceptional object for future generations.

Sunday 20 September – Discovering the Châtillonnais Heritage

10:30 am–12:30 pm – Jean Millot and Claire Floriet will present and sign their book Au fil des couleurs du temps… 107 communes du Châtillonnais.

Through historic postcards and anecdotes, the book brings the 107 communes of the Châtillonnais back to life, offering a glimpse into their landscapes, streets and everyday life in the past.

The book (in French) will be available for purchase in the museum shop.

A free weekend for everyone

Admission to the museum and all events is free throughout the weekend.
