Journées Européennes de l'Archéologie
The Musée du Pays Châtillonnais - Trésor de Vix is taking part in the Journées Européennes de l'Archéologie (European Archaeology Days) to introduce you to the world of archaeology. On Friday June 14 at 7pm, dive into the heart of the 2019 Vix excavations during a lecture given by french archaeologists E. Millet and B. Dubuis. On Saturday June 15 and Sunday June 16, step into the shoes of an archaeologist with a dig tank. Also discover INRAP's temporary exhibition: “Archéocapsule: l'archéologie des sexes”.

An exhibition designed and produced by INRAP

How did archaeologists identify the body found at Vix as a woman, known today as the "Lady" or "Princess" of Vix? Why was, and still is, this sexual identification debated? How has this discovery changed our view of the celtic society?
To find out the answers to these questions, visit the temporary exhibition at the Musée du Pays Châtillonnais - Trésor de Vix from 1 June to 31 August 2024: "Archéocapsule*: archéologie des sexes", designed and produced by the Institut National de Recherche en Archéologie Préventive (INRAP).
